First Knight released in 1995 gave the audience a tour of Middle age era. Critically it has achieved mixed reviews. The story is set in Camelot where love story of Lancelot the rouge and lady Guinevere of Leonesse blossoms. The story takes toll when series of incidents takes place.
Director Jerry Zucker left no stone unturned in reliving the Middle age era. Special research on the subject was done by Jerry and Hunt Lowry the producer of the movie. From costumes to the set up everything reflects hard work and research. The output is outstanding visual effects.
First Knight has the perfect casting suitable for the characters in question. Sean Connery justified the character of King Arthur and carried it very well. Richard Gere and Julia Ormon have made many hearts thumping with their romance. Julia portrays the character of Lady of Lioness with perfection.
The film earned a lot at the box office with domestic gross reaching $37,600,435.Though the movie attracted limited age group of audience. The action sequences in the movie have not disappointed the audience who are interested in action scenes.
The movie begins with the announcement made by King Arthur of Camelot who wishes to now marry and settle down his reign with justice and peace. He chooses Lady Guinevere to be his Queen. And this begins the sequence of actions, the rebel of Malagat who wants to be the King, the secret love story of Lancelot and Guinevere and the conclusions follow.
