The movie “Tremors” was released in 1990. This movie starred Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Michael Gross and Reba McIntire. The film was directed by Ron Underwood and it was written by Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson. Ernest Troost did the music for Tremors.
Tremors takes place in a fictional town called “Perfection, Nevada”. It is set in a tiny town that used to be a mining town. Most of the residents moved out leaving only 14 to fend for themselves. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward play the roles of Val and Earl, two men who do odd jobs to earn money in the town.
The government sends out a seismologist to check on the weird readings they were getting in Perfection, Nevada. Val and Earl meet up with her just as they are trying to relocate to another town. They wanted to move somewhere else where they could make more money. The pair did not get far before finding some of the town residents dead.
Soon they realize that there is a worm like creature that is living under the ground. They call them “Graboids”. The trio, Val, Earl, and the Seismologist soon realize that they have acute hearing but cannot see. They track down their victims by the sounds they make. Any noise at all from a ball bouncing to a pogo stick can make them come. Once they reach their target they come out from the ground and grab their victim.
The movie Tremors is really a funny science fiction movie. It makes you wonder what could be under the ground out in remote parts of the country. They could come from aliens or from botched government weapons testing. This movie is great for people of all ages.
