Abagnale Jr. who had made millions thru fake checks and travelled 26 countries to escape the police and commit fraud even more. Catch me if you can is a movie filled with scenes that is capable of capturing the audience’s full attention and sending them sitting on the edge of their seats.

Filmed in Quebec City, Prison in Montreal and New York by Janusz Kaminski, the story revolves around a 16 year-old Frank Abagnale Jr. (played by DiCaprio) living a happy life until his parents divorced. The divorced brought a profound effect on the young child and sent him running away from home. In order to sustain himself, he found a way to cash out fake checks through forgery, dressing up in high class suits and a captivating charm. He was able to impersonate a Pan Am pilot, physician and lawyer and acquired information he needed. Soon the FBI was chasing him around the globe with the obsessed head of the Check Fraud Department of the FBI on the lead, Carl Hannratty (played by Tom Hanks). Carl became determined to pin Frank also known as Dan and bring him in but is having difficulty catching the very witty Abagnale Jr. The con man soon got accustomed to the chase game between him and Carl and occasionally, he would allow Carl to get close by leaving behind obvious trails.

Along the way, Frank fell in love with Nurse Brenda Strong (Amy Adams) in the hospital where he was impersonating as a young doctor. His love forced him to change his life of dishonesty and this has led him in having difficulty getting away because he cannot change his name again and leave her. He clumsily left trails for Carl to follow and always leading him to near-catching incidents. He eventually got caught in the end and was released from prison years later to assist the FBI because of his expertise in identifying fraud criminals and identity thefts.

Leonardo DiCaprio suited well the character of Frank Abagnale Jr. His mesmerizing boyish looks and captivating charisma can make the audiences believed that indeed Mr. Abagnale Jr. is a person that is hard to resist. Tom Hanks’ character of Carl Hannratty is only a fictitious character created to add spice to the story and he was able to portray excellently an obsessed FBI agent in catching a smart criminal. Hanks was able to equally showcased a strong performance of an obsession to detain Abagnale Jr. and at the same time a seemingly fatherly-concern to a young boy lost. The tandem of these two great actors makes a wild cat and mouse chase for Catch Me If You Can.

Supporting roles by Christopher Walken (Frank Abagnale Sr.), Martin Sheen (playing Brenda’s dad Roger), Amy Adams (Brenda), and Jennifer Garner (prostitute scammed by Frank) made the film even more spicy and enthralling to the viewers. Despite the many suspense movies about con artists and identity theft stories, Steven Spielberg has made Catch Me If You Can a unique and enjoyable film for all.
