She Done Him Wrong
Famous She Done Him Wrong Movie Quotations
As you view She Done Him Wrong, you can not imagine that this film was made in 1933 because of the outrageous plot and dialogue. Mae West is in her prime as she plays the bawdy Lady Lou, who is a singer in the saloon she lives above and owns.
Lou is outrageously flirtatious, smokes, and has a number of men who have given her diamonds. All this, in a setting of the 1890s when women wore long dresses so their ankles would not provoke men to lusty thoughts!
The ever-so-gorgeous Cary Grant plays a detective, Captain Cummings, disguised as a missionary, who comes to break up a white slavery ring involving unsuspecting girls. Of course, he tries, but he can not resist the irresistible “Lady” Lou. Long before medicaid billing was a household name, Cary Grant could look in your eyes and deem his presence as he does with lady Lou.
Following are just some of her famous lines, which she says to Captain Cummings (Cary Grant):
“Hello there, warm, dark, and handsome.”
“Why don’t you come up some time and see me?”
When Cummings asks here, “Haven’t you ever met a man who could make you happy”, she replies, “Sure, lots of times.”
Again when Cummings says, “Surely you don’t object to my holding your hand”, Lou counters, “It ain’t heavy—I can hold it.”
“Is that a pistol in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?”
