When she's diagnosed with cancer, Ellen would like to go back to New York, but then she decides to stay close to her mother. At Christmas, Kate's conditions worsen and after the New Year's eve she asks her daughter to help her to die. Ellen refuses so Kate asks the same thing to her husband.
