Plot – While moving to Nebraska, the young doctor Burt and his companion Vicki run over the corpse of a boy on the freeway. Burt immediately accertains that the unfortunate boy had been stabbed to death. No trace of the criminal can be found in the boundless plain of corn fields. Thanks to the vague indications given by the manager of a gas station, they drive across some fields to arrive to a desolate and empty town, Gatlin, where a surreal silence reigns. And here, little by little, Burt and Vicki discover a horrible truth.
