Plot – Twenty-year-old Therese Belivet is a clerk in a Manhattan department store dreaming of a more rewarding life. One day she meets Carol, an attractive woman trapped in an arranged and loveless marriage. The two immediately understand each other and the innocence of their first meeting slowly fades into a progressively deeper relationship. Set in 1950s' New York, “Carol” tells the story of two women belonging to very different environments, who are overwhelmed by a mutual passion. Defying the taboos imposed by the morality of the time, which condemns their undeniable attraction, they will live their love story, proving the strength and the power of feelings.
