Plot – Henry Barthes is a temporary lit teacher in a high school, but he's also a lonely man who wants to keep others at a distance. However, he tries to teach something to his students, but he gets a new job in a degraded suburban public school. There the students have no hopes for the future and the teachers are disillusioned too. Henry's life is upset by the meeting with Erica, a teenage prostitute, and Meredith, a brilliant and sensitive student. The experience shortens Henry's distance within the world.
