Plot – The young writer Christian moves from London to Paris in 1899 and comes into contact with the ‘bohemian” companies, frequented also by Toulouse Lautrec. He is commissioned to write a script to play at Moulin Rouge. One evening Christian meets Satine, Moulin Rouge’s star who will probably be the protagonist of the script, and instantly falls in love with her. Unfortunately, the Duke of Worchester, who finances the shows, has set his eyes on Satine and the impresario Zidler encourages the relationship. However, Christian and Satine are mutually attracted. They want to love each other, but the Duke constantly tries to date the girl.

- Christian: Can't... fall in love? But a life without love... that's terrible!
- Satine: No. Being on the street, that's terrible.”“The Moulin Rouge. A night club, a dance hall and a bordello. Ruled over by Harold Zidler. A kingdom of night time pleasures. Where the rich and powerful came to play with the young and beautiful creatures of the underworld. The most beautiful of these was the one I loved. Satine. A courtesan. She sold her love to men. They called her the ...” (continue)(continue reading)
