Plot – Dalton Trumbo is the highest paid writer in Hollywood during the '40s. He's politically active and sides with the unions. Along with his colleagues, Trumbo is called to testify in front of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. It investigates any communist activity in the United States. Trumbo refuses to answer and is arrested. In the following thirteen years, all the major Hollywood companies refuse to hire him. Trumbo is forced to sell his house. His friends, colleagues and neighbors avoid him. To support his family, the writer accepts low-budget jobs under a false name.
