Plot – The ocean liner Titanic - which is considered a little gem of technology and advertised as 'unsinkable' - is the most luxurious cruise ship ever built. 10 April, 1912 it sets sail from England with more than 1,500 passengers aboard for its maiden voyage. Travelers, as custom required, are arranged in three classes which reflect social differences. But fate cancels these differences between Rose DeWitt Bukater, who represents the American upper middle class, chocked by the weight of the company’s roles and obligations, and Jack Dawson, a young designer, free and independent, passenger of the third-class. Rose is betrothed to Cal Hockley, heir to great fortunes, marriage upon which Rose’s mother counts on to revive their precarious economic situation. Contrasts are strong, the acquaintance of Jack arouses in Rose a new way of living to which she will not give up. During the night between 14 and 15 April, Titanic collides against an iceberg and begins to take on water. Little by little, the huge ship breaks in two, and passengers panic seeking refuge on the boats. There is not enough room for everyone so many drown, including Jack. 85 years later, a treasure hunter wants to reconstruct those events and is surprised to know he can use Rose’s testimony, who followed the stages of the research on TV.

“Titanic” Quotes 22 quotes
“Can you exchange one life for another? A caterpillar turns into a butterfly. If a mindless insect can do it, why couldn't I?”
“- Rose Dewitt Bukater: I don't know the steps!
- Jack Dawson: Neither do I! Just go with it!”
“The purpose of university is to find a suitable husband.”
“Get back, I say, or I'll shoot you all like dogs! Keep order here! Keep order I say.”
“1,500 people went into the sea when Titanic sank from under us. There were 20 boats floating nearby and only one came back. One. 6 were saved from the water, myself included. 6... out of 1,500. Afterward, the 700 people in the boats had nothing to do but wait. Wait to die, wait to live, wait for an absolution that would never come.”
“I'm the king of the world!”
“- Rose Dewitt Bukater: I don't see what all of the fuss is about. It doesn't look any bigger than the Mauritania.
- Cal Hockley: You can be blasé about some things, Rose, but not about Titanic. It's over a hundred feet longer than the Mauritania and far more luxurious!”
“- Rose Dewitt Bukater: I am not a foreman in one of your mills that you can command. I am your fiancée.
- Cal Hockley: My fian... my fiancée! Yes, you are, and my wife. My wife in practice if not yet by law, so you will honor me. You will honor me the way a wife is required to honor a husband. Because I will not be made a fool, Rose. Is this in...” (continue)(continue reading)
“- Jack Dawson: Are these all for me?
- Molly Brown: Just start from the outside and work your way in.”
It's been 84 years, and I can still smell the fresh paint. The china had never been used. The sheets had never been slept in. Titanic was called the 'Ship of Dreams", and it was. It really was.
“- Jack Dawson: Promise me you'll survive. That you won't give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let go of that promise.
- Rose Dewitt Bukater: I promise.
- Jack Dawson: Never let go.
- Rose Dewitt Bukater: I'll never let go, Jack. I'll never let go. I promise.”
“- Ruth Dewitt Bukater: [with other passengers in line behind her] Will the lifeboats be seated according to class? I hope they're not too crowded.
- Rose Dewitt Bukater: Oh mother, shut up! Don't you understand? The water is freezing and there aren't enough boats. Not enough by half. Half the people on this ship are going to die.
- Cal Hockley:...” (continue)(continue reading)
“- Jack Dawson: I'm Jack Dawson.
